Baby Hair Loss

August 31st, 2009

It was a weird phenomenon.  My cousin came out with all this hair, she had a full head of hair when born.  But one day, it was the oddest thing, she just suddenly had about all of it fall out, and she was bald for about a year.  Then it started growing back, and since then it’s always been extremely thin.  She never got the really thick hair she used to have back.  Sometimes this is hereditary.  But sometimes there are those who say that you can actually prevent it.

There are some that say there are a few basic tips.  First of all, apparently put them on their stomach or side to go to sleep.  Doctors recommend that you should actually lay them on their back to decrease risk of sudden infant death syndrome.  So on that one, I lean more toward the doctors’ analysis.  Second, prevent what they call cradle cap.  Cradle cap can be avoided by moisturizing the scalp daily and otherwise making sure it’s clean and healthy in general.  Third, use only satin blankets.  I think this may well be just a myth and bunk in general.  But there are some who swear by it.  But these are the few basic ways to apparently prevent your baby from suffering random and sudden hair loss.
